 Distillation is a common laboratory technique used to separate and purify liquids. It's used by chemists to identify and purify organic liquids.
 

 Distillation works by exploiting the different boiling temperatures of liquids. The apparatus used for distillation consists of three major parts:

• A distillation flask to heat the mixture and volatilize the components
• A condenser to cool the vapors back to liquid state
• A collection vessel
